Developed by the University of Minnesota as a variety that can tolerate the bitter cold in northern areas of the country. A refreshing blend of tart and sweet, with a crisp, breaking flesh, which means that a chunk breaks off when bitten into. Orange-colored skin with a red blush, generally a medium to large apple. Fruit stores well. Good disease resistance. Slow growing tree, little pruning required.
