Yellow Transparent Apples
Dr. Hoskins of Newport, Vermont introduced this Russian apple to the USA in 1870. This pale yellow, smooth skinned apple became very popular and almost every farmstead had a tree. The flesh is soft and tart. Traditionally a sauce apple, it is also great for pies or drying. It is one of the first fresh apples of the season.
