Grown in France since 1776, Orleans Reinette, also known as Winter Ribston, is a medium sized apple with a flattened shape and a russetted, rosy check. With a combination of citrus and nutty flavors, it makes for a good cooking and baking apple, as well as for eating out of hand. The famous English food writer and pomologist , Edward Bunyard, enjoyed his Orleans Reinettes with port wine. It also pairs well with buttery nutty cheeses. Also suitable for cider making.
